Theres no way around it; the Explorers had a tough year fishing at Lake Mary in the National Wildlife Refuge last year. Whether it was the heat, poor bait selection, or the wind is up for debate. After a tough first fishing day last week, it was tough to find optimism amongst the Explorers that our luck would change yesterday. However, an 11th hour change of bait led to the group exceeding their fish total from last year in one day!

Three fish later, the weather sirens sounded and we all headed into the contact station for our “campfire”. We sang camp favorites, “Quinn the Eskimo” and “Heart of Gold” while cabins made sponge bugs and did teambuilding. It was a wonderful day for all!
