OUR DIRECTORS

OUR YEAR-ROUND TEAM

Camp Granite Lake’s small year-round team works to make the summer experience for campers, families, and staff a memorable one! Learn more about our seasonal staff here.

Founder & Director

Tommy Feldman

Tommy knew from an early age that camp was his life’s work! After many summers attending and then directing camps in Wisconsin and Colorado, Tommy started Mountain Day Camp in 2005, which evolved into Camp Granite Lake.

“The growth I experienced at camp influences everything I do in work and play. I wouldn’t be who I am, and I wouldn’t have my energetic and independent approach to life without it. Little did I know the influence camp was having on my life – I was just having fun!”

Tommy’s family is actively involved in life at camp. His wife, Ali, is a pediatrician. Their kids are: Joey, age 9, and Mara, age 7. They attended camp all summer, too.

17th Year

Associate Director

Tom Pevear

Tom has been working summers at Camp Granite Lake since 2011, and has been a part of the year-round team, first as Program Director, and now as Assistant Director since 2013. During the summer, you’ll frequently see Tom with a guitar in his hand leading some of his favorite camp songs, like ‘Sloopy’ or ‘Heart of Gold’. During the off season, Tom works with prospective and enrolled families, giving them tours of camp and visiting them for slideshows, as well as interviewing and hiring staff.

Tom and his wife, Jordan live in Tulsa, OK during the off season with their 3-year old twins, Arlo and Eleanor, and dogs, Gehrig, Lu and Levon.  He enjoys playing guitar, digging through record shops, live music, and running in his free time.

Assistant Director

Abbie Carlson

Abbie became part of the Camp Granite Lake team in 2017, as a cabin counselor, and has since transitioned into a year-round position and now is an Assistant Director. She grew-up in a canoe in Minnesota and enjoys teaching waterfront activities on our lake! In her free time, Abbie loves playing board games, hiking, and talking about dragonflies. During the off-season, Abbie lives in Denver and spends her weekends learning to ski and identifying wildflowers.

Abbie has been singing camp songs for over 20 years and can’t wait to learn new ones from you!
