This morning campers enjoyed the nice weather and their final day of second half of the week activities! Culinary successfully made personal pizzas, horseback riders enjoyed a beautiful trail ride, arts & crafts started some friendship bracelets, hiking completed a great hike around camp, and much more! One-weekers dissected owl pellets and learned about some birds of Colorado, as well as some paddling and hiking.

Afternoon brought some field games during Organized Free, as well as some board games, air hockey, ping pong, music, and bracelet making. Organized Free ended a little early today for campers to prepare for the evening’s formal dinner- some delicious chicken and sweet potatoes! Table cloths, clean clothes, and yummy dessert made for an exciting meal. Thanks kitchen staff!

Campfire tonight was a bittersweet event, both recapping an awesome week at Granite Lake and also saying goodbye to our one-week campers. A few campers and counselors read quotes and told stories around tonight’s theme- perseverance. This evening was also a special campfire because it was our first Keylog Ceremony, a time to appreciate individuals that have helped us through a time at camp that may have challenged us, and move our personal “log jams” along with a smile. This ceremony dates back to lumberjacks having some closure after a tough day’s work along the lakes and rivers, recognizing team members that helped them find the log that was keeping the lumber from flowing successfully down stream. Everyone did a great job appreciating friends here at camp in meaningful ways.

We will miss our one-week friends, and look forward to seeing them next summer!
