Our last pool day didn’t start at the pool – it started at the rock wall! Director Tommy drove down and set up our portable rock wall for us to climb. We started our morning off with high energy songs and a game of “Switch, Turn, Rotate” where campers have to communicate and work as a group to follow a series of commands. Director Tommy gave the group a great safety briefing before campers were let loose on the wall. They had a great time challenging themselves. When campers weren’t climbing they enjoyed looking through last year’s Time Capsule and completing some of the lanyards it contained.

After rock climbing the group ate lunch at the park adjacent to Stapleton’s F15 Pool. When we were finished we all changed into our suits, applied sunscreen, and the campers were given a swim screen to make sure they were in the appropriate part of the pool (for their abilities). Campers enjoyed “capturing” staff and playing with one another, and before we knew it it was time to leave. The rest of our afternoon was spent at Stapleton’s Central Park. There we ate snack of apples and carrots and used marbles and paint to create neat works of art. In the van on the way home we sang “Country Roads,” “Ragtime Cowboy Joe” and “On Top of Spaghetti.” Campers reflected on what they could do to have a great last day, and we are excited for Friday.
