We had a fun Saturday at sleep away camp! We began our day with some delicious granola, yogurt, and fruit for breakfast, and then headed back to our cabins to get ready for the day. After filling water bottles and applying sunscreen, we hopped onto the camp bus and headed to Crescent Meadow for the morning, where campers hiked around and made awesome kites. It was fun to see the kites fly really high!

After our morning, we had an al fresco lunch at camp–cabin groups got to take bag lunches and eat anywhere they wanted! Groups enjoyed eating in and around the forts they’d built earlier in the week. After lunch, everyone headed back to their cabins for rest hour–it’s nice to take an hour in the middle of the day to relax! After rest hour, campers had choice activities; they could choose to do archery, go fishing, or make candles! Several archers hit the bulls eye, and the candle-makers decided to add a vanilla scent to their candles!

After our choice activities, campers had a chance to order their own gorp for lunch–it was fun to see Director Tommy make each camper’s individual mix! Then, the campers had some free time; they enjoyed hanging out on the camp field and in the lodge–several got involved in an intense game of Uno! Then, everyone washed their hands and headed to Crestone Needle for a yummy dinner. After dinner, we all headed back to the meeting hall, where we had an evening at the movies! The campers really enjoyed watching Wall-E, although some fell asleep during it. 🙂 Then, everyone headed back to their cabins for lights out!
